 
Custom Rugs
We continue to consistently deliver beautiful, accurate, and on-time custom rugs, up to size 16 x 30. Above is a custom Feathers rug measuring 12 x 20. In the top row are four master weavers; and the bottom row shows our finishing team.
You may be surprised to find that the weaving process is but a fraction of the overall rug production time. There are many ways to cut corners when making a rug, such as purchasing pre-scoured wool, dyeing wool in massive dye lots, and/or skimping on the end finish. Each compromise reduces incrementally the quality and beauty of the final rug.
 At Line of the Spirit, we don't cut corners or make compromises. We hand select all of our wool, and wash and blend it all by hand. No chemicals or bleaches are used. This results in lanolin-rich, heavily-textured wool, which is the first ingredient in our collector-quality rugs.
Skeins of spun wool are dyed in small pots, air dried, and given to our Master Weavers to weave into rugs. Each piece is an individual, due to the small dye lots and hand-drawn designs. Our saturated colors come alive as the rug grows daily on the loom.
The finishing process is equally detailed, and without it, our rugs would not have our signature texture. Our team trims the rug, front and back, removing loose threads or other impurities. This gives the rug an even finish. We create a dense, kilim end, weaving the warp threads back into the body of the rug. Finally, we hand-wash using mild detergent, and add our specialty herbal rinse before allowing the rugs to dry naturally in the sun. No sizing or chemicals are used.
The final result - a beautiful, soft, yet durable rug that can stand generations of enjoyment and abuse. |
